neither ships nor
lighthouse she fathoms,
nor the Atlantis or the
Olympus is her refuge,
for she is mesmerised with
the moon.
She rides the wishful sea-horses to the moon,
and sometimes imaginary
waves carry her to the moon.
Oh! how she wishes to be with the moon,
she tries to hold his
shadow,
floating in the foam,
but, it’s an ephemeral
glimpse.
Soon the moon hides,
under the light of a new
day,
and she waits for another
night,
in the hope of catching his
enchanting sight.

As I couldn't access your piece through Poetry ans Prose, I came through your own site only to find your delightful Mermaid in love with Moon piece was your last one shown, which was well worth the visit.
As long as there's hope of finding the beloved, we can go on.
I don't know what the technical term is, but that is very lovely verse of lovely imagination.
How mesmerizing the moon that keeps us enchanted! Like the mermaid, I wait in hope.
This is incredibly enchanting, Vandana! 💝💝

I love how hope is a central character in this enchanting tale--wistful and lovely piece!
A fairy tale so many of us can see the reality of. I love that exists in her own world and love in her own way. It's always good to know where one stands (or swims).
Lovely fantasy. It appears the mermaid will be forever chasing the moon, but her choice of transportation is magic!

Lovely and magical piece.
I like the alliterative labial phrase ‘mesmerised with the moon’ and the gentle rhyming of this poem, Vandana.
