The Unknown Woman Of The Sea

Unheard, unsung songs of her,

lurk on the ocean floor,

under the curls of tides,

her salty tears hide,

within the white foam,

she swirls and roams.

Who is she?

whose songs drift hither and thither,

echoing the vast blue.

On the days of full moon,

when ocean waves dance,

the unknown woman of the sea,

can be seen swaying in the waves.

Is she a mermaid, a siren or a selkie?

whose songs drift hither and thither,

echoing the vast blue.

This is a beautiful rendering of the magic of the sea. I think we have all heard those voices calling.

Nicely done, Vandana! I love the ‘curls of tides’ and the mermaid songs ‘echoing the vast blue’.

Very nicely done. I can see how men at sea for days at a time could conjure up this interesting imaginings!

Love this. The sea is always, ever a mystery. So much, so deep, that we cannot see or understand.

Your mermaid almost feels like a lost little ghost. So beautiful...
