Goddess India: Enchanting and Alluring

Many have told her story,
of unending quest and glory.
In her heart many mysteries reside,
sometimes they open and sometimes hide.

Her crown of Himalayas,
holds secret of an eternal life.
 Himalayan alpine shrub and meadows,
resonate with songs of monk,
far across rings a gong.

Western Ghats line her shore,
giving resources in galore.
Treasure them with love and care,
life needs their aroma to flourish with flair.

Majestic Ajanta – Ellora caves,
magnanimous like waves,
their beauty unmatched,
made of rock from scratch.

The oceans that surround her,
roar with emotions.
Pearls and treasures they bear,
dive deep to explore within.

Never she takes back anything,
for she is a giver and
humanity lover.

Today’s India and yesteryears India is a lot different. People have changed, their values and morals too have changed ( or may  I say digressed ), we have damaged our country be it by politics/corruption/ pollution/dwindling social structure.
But still the soul of India is intact somehow and in my opinion it is THE SOUL OF BHARAT
MATA( Bharat = India, Mata = Mother ) that still holds the beauty of India.

I fear the same could be said of many countries in this present age, though I hope like your country, the sould still is there under the tarnish we have let grow through our moral digression.

Countries change .. and usually the past shines with a beauty that is lost.. But maybe (hooefully) some things get better too... And not all in the past was good, your picture of India is beautiful.

There is so much beauty in the world but so few appreciate it. Still we have hope that our children will still see this in the future.

I love the picture your poem has painted of Mother India, it's power. And your note makes the poetry (and it's message) more powerful. Humankind has a terrible gift for destruction, but for as long as some of us (many would be best) continue to remember that the soul of a land is eternal, perhaps we'll have a chance at saving and protecting the bits we can see.

A beautiful work of art, and a wonderfully written poem ! I resonate with your note about the soul of Mother India still holding its beauty and its depth, underneath the shifting times.

I like the admonition to treasure the important things with care because, "life needs their aroma to flourish with flair"---what a beautiful reminder :-)

A lovely cascade of beautiful images that evoke the splendor in nature and antiquity and the honorable values you see as being at the soul of your country - powerfully articulated.

This is such a heartfelt love song for your beloved India...I think the same decline and damage is happening in countries all over the world....so sad but I love how the soul of India is still going strong.

As they say, the only constant thing in the world is change. I understand the sentiment Vandana. I guess new generation needs to have a throwback to know the history of the place where they live in.
