Black fine robe she wears,
gives solace to my spirit,
her magic – charming,
a soul catcher from afar,
walks along with the shadow.
Her peaceful aura,
expands beyond time and space,
waiting patiently,
to finish our agonies,
and fly to a new empire.
I call upon thee,
custodian of god’s gates,
hold me in your arms,
sing me a sweet lullaby,
and I will sleep in your embrace.

Underneath the percolating rain drops in sand, beneath the dew drops rolling down the leaf blades, among the playful waves of roaring oceans, there’s a deep silence, only heard by a heart calm within : Vandana Sharma

when I first saw the word sweet next to death I admit I was a bit out perplexed, but you wove this nicely. definitely an interesting take on Death.
nice reflection on Death...death will be peaceful to a worn out body and mind i guess...
death where is your sting... if we know where we're going - it's easier to let go...
There is darkness but also a sense of comfort and knowing...and yes..she can wait a while longer for us...
There would be great comfort to meet the grim reaper on the way out whether they be male of female. Just another adventure beginning.
Agreed with Jae, there is a certain darkness in these lines.. but a sense of comfort as well.! Beautifully penned.. :D
Wishing you happy mother's day :D
Lots of love
xoxo
tanka is one of my favorite forms... yours are wonderful! i like the phrase "soul catcher." lovely sense of peace and acceptance in your verses.

There comes that moment when we welcome death as savior.. I think this approach to death is a healthy one,
Sometimes, death is a sweet companion, I believe, and comes at the right time to be very welcome. I think it was for my 21 year old cat who lived to be 126 years old in human years and could no longer move her rear legs and hips so fragile they had become. Thank you, then, for this acknowledgement of death.
Not looking to forward to meeting that grim reaper...but the time will surely come!
The soul catcher that is death ~ I admire the tanka verses Vandana ~
whoa! quite spiritual and transcending. gracias
As Haruki Murakami once said, death is not the opposite of life but a part of it.
It's always difficult to talk about death but I think one should accept that is indeed a part of life.
certainly i would tag this an oxymoron classic "sweet death", surely is a fetching title which resonate throughout your 3 tanka
quite an amazing write
much love...
Excellent work with your theme.

I like that you have expressed the peaceful aspect of death and its patient inevitability.
You made death sound like a beautiful lullaby ... loved this comparison :-)
A beautiful way to view death...solace, peaceful and lullabies....
Lovely evocative tanka - that confers peace.
did i miss something somewhere to explain the significance? Hope all good, Vandana.
Death can sometimes be welcome and your words express it beautifully.

death Tanka! So grim, but well crafted!
Love the form, and poem has such dark imagery....hope you are okay, Vandana..
So wonderful to see a female death. Great expression of her being a comforter even in the end. Love it.
A far more comforting perspective than one that is usually taken.
