White as pale moon
Smooth like satin and
silk
When rolls over, flows as if
milk
Safe in the hearts of lovers
and poets
Tucked far- far away from riots
In the calm of voids
Within shell lay
The pearl
A rictameter is a nine-line poem. Each line has a specific number of syllables. The first line has two syllables. The next line has four. The next line has six. The next line has eight. The next line has ten. And we work our way down again (8,6,4,2)
The last line is the same as the first line.

Such a lovely poem.
"Safe in the heart of lovers and poets" -- so true of pearls. I liked very much how you used the form.

pearly words!!
!!!!
Fine work, this. Interesting form. Especially appreciated the pearl/moon comparison.
This is stunning. The pearl lends itself to wonderful metaphors, doesn't it.
:)!!!!
I loved how the poem begins and concludes with the pearl, in between taking us for a beautiful ride ... superb :-)
Thanks for flying by. its for imaginary ....toads prompt.
Oh, Vandana, I loved this. The "milky" loveliness of the pearl, the phrase, "in the calm of voids," all so beautiful. Worthy of the subject, too. This form seemed to come naturally from you. Peace, Amy

Sweet, safe, the milk of human love! Neat poem!
I love pearls and they are elegant. Loved your rictameter.
beautiful poem - love the rictameter, may give that form a try too!
excellent symbolism! well done
Pearls are very special because they start out as an irritant and with lots of work and time they eventually become something beautiful. Pearls in a way remind me of Opals because they too can have so many colors and just flow with the smoothness and light to show them off. I also love how Pearls can come in some different colors.
Thanks for sharing such a wonderful poem with us for this weeks Theme Thursday. May you have many beautiful blessings this week.
God bless.
:)thankyou so much,,Mrsupole ,,your comments always leave me speechless.
