Edvard Munch "The Girl in the Window" 1893 |
All my emotions pour into you,
everything seems surreal.
No one I need,
just your thoughts I wish to heed.
I bow and listen to the quietness of dark,
silently losing myself.
Peace in heart and mind prevails,
off to far seas I sail.
Calmness of night holds me too tight,
its stillness sings a lullaby.
Clinching steadily onto memory’s veil I
stand,
this solitude absorbs me in, as dunes of
sand.

This painting is the one that also called to me. You've really created a wonderful poem to accompany it's beauty.
It's nice to listen in solitude of night for answers and stay in peace ~ like 'memery's vail' and the last line 'this solitude absorbs me in, as dunes of sand.' ~ thoughtful poem
Serene interpretation of solitude.....lovely.
A lovely response to the prompt, Vandana.

I love the flow-y feeling of this poem and "memory’s veil" this, too!
I love the surreal tone of your poem ...
the quietness of dark...this is why i love getting up before the sun and ushering in the light of day before everyone....the still ness...
WOw! Knock me over with images of being locked in place! Isolated and alone.
nice comparison to the sand in the end
I love this, especially "the quietness of dark".
I like this part best:
this solitude absorbs me in, as dunes of sand.
memories veil .... that is beautiful!
beautiful imagery ... a lovely write ...
I like the lullaby of the night's stillness towards the end.
This is so beautiful. It sweeps over me in so many ways. I feel like the girl at the window.
If we could listen to solitude more often, how much peace would follow us. Beautiful
