Silent Screams

The walls of asylum,
hum a song of silence,
etched in their bricks.

There are people within these walls,
misfits in the world.

Many came,
fewer went,
some stayed,
in silent screams of pain,
unheeded by the world.

But, the walls of asylum
know these silent screams.

This is such a chilling poem, Vandana. I find these lines especially effective:
'The walls of asylum,
hum a song of silence,
etched in their bricks'
and
'...the walls of asylum
know these silent screams'.

"a song of silence,
etched in their bricks."

Such deep sorrow echoes from these words.
Thanks for dropping by my blog Vandana

much love...

This is very nicely done. So sad and so real and heartbreaking. The silent screams stain the walls.

I have seen some terrible images of asylums... and those walls with their pale green colors chill me.
